What Jewish Tradition Teaches Us About the Importance of Dissent, presented by
Rabbi Cookie Lea Olshein

Beginning with the book of Genesis, Jewish tradition is filled with stories of dissent. This
tradition continues through the Talmud and has most recently been exemplified by the words
spoken by RBG in “I dissent.” Join us for this ancient and timely discussion about our obligation
to speak up, even when we might not “win the argument.”

About Rabbi Cookie Lea Olshein:
A practicing lawyer for 11 years before attending rabbinical school, Rabbi Cookie Lea Olshein is
the current “Resident Rabbinic Scholar” at Congregation Ner Tamid, in Las Vegas, NV. She
has been a Scholar-in-Residence/Rabbi-in-Residence speaking in both churches and
synagogues many times, most often speaking on the intersection between Torah and the
American legal system.
