April 22nd: Giving Back and TIkkun Olam: One Fridge at a Time

During the pandemic, restaurateur Mark Bucher needed to figure out a way to make a difference and stay relevant. His DC area restaurant, like so many others, was not able to operate in the usual way under COVID restrictions. Using his entrepreneurial spirit and restaurant chops (no pun intended) Mark founded a non-profit called Feed the Fridge. Feed the Fridge is an effort to bring nourishment where there is hunger while helping pandemic-battered restaurants stay in business.
They do this by placing refrigerators around the DC metro area and paying local restaurants to fill them with fresh meals daily. Feed the Fridge also hand-delivers holiday meals to seniors who cannot leave their homes.

About Mark Bucher:
Mark grew up attending temple Emanuel in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where he learned at a young age about the importance of giving back. Mark’s impressive resume includes CBS Radio, iHeartMedia, 4-time world burger champion, co-founder of Medium Rare, and Founder, Director & CEO of Feed the Fridge. (And that’s not the entire list!)
Mark lives in Bethesda, MD with his family.
