Deepa received her undergraduate degree from Ohio State University and a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall Law School. Following law school, she clerked for Hon. John S. Triarsi, Presiding Criminal Judge, Superior Court, Union County before joining the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (BCPO) in September of 2001 as an Assistant Prosecutor.
Currently, she is the Director of the Legal Advisor Program, and Sex Crimes Legal Advisor. She is also assigned to the Appellate Unit in the Office where she litigates complex issues of criminal law before all levels of state court and the federal district court of New Jersey. Throughout the last 24 years at the BCPO, she has prosecuted almost every type of crime ranging from theft, aggravated assault, home invasion, and robbery, to assault by auto, attempted murder, homicide, aggravated sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of child pornography.
