Temple Beth Tikvah is looking to hire two people – a custodian/handyperson and a cleaning person – to work approximately 15 hours a week each. For the right fit, we will consider hiring one person to work approximately 30 hours a week. Custodian/Handyperson
Core hours need to be Thursday: 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Friday: 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Additional hours are Saturdays and Sundays, as needed, which will be scheduled several weeks in advance. Duties include:
- Frequently setting up and breaking down tables and chairs for special events and Temple activities.
- Some cleaning responsibilities.
- Removing garbage from all areas in the building and bringing it to the proper area.
- Light maintenance tasks, such as assembling small furniture, hanging pictures, changing light bulbs, etc.
- Ensuring there is no litter around the building.
- Clearing snow and ice from entrance ways, walkways, patios, and steps.
- Being able to bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Cleaning Person
We can be flexible with hours but the ideal person has to clean 3 times a week: Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday or Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Duties include:
- Maintaining the kitchen, e.g., washing dishes, putting away food, cleaning and disinfecting sinks, counters, tables, etc., and keeping the cupboards organized.
- Maintaining restrooms, which includes cleaning toilets, walls, sinks, fixtures, and mirrors, and replenishing towels, toilet paper, and soap dispensers.
- Flattening cardboard boxes and placing them – along with the plastic recyclables – on the curb once a week.
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, and dusting.
