TEMPLE BETH TIKVAH

Avianca Bouchedid

Executive Director

Avi was born in Germany, raised in Brooklyn, and came of age in Manhattan.  Years ago, she walked away from a comfortable corporate job on Park Avenue – right across from the Waldorf Astoria – trading financial security for purpose in the nonprofit sector, despite her working-class roots.  She has never once regretted it.

She went on to dedicate the bulk of her 20+ year career to social justice and tikkun olam.  Before joining Temple Beth Tikvah, she served as Executive Director of the Temple Beth Israel Preservation Society in Danielson, CT.  She also worked for a boutique consulting firm where she designed and launched a collective impact project that brought national experts together (including and especially survivors) to end sex trafficking in the U.S.

Avi earned a certificate in Innovating for Sustainability from Harvard Business School, holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, and graduated cum laude from St. John’s University with a bachelor’s in Literature and Speech.  She now lives in northern New Jersey with her 2 daughters (one speaks, the other one barks) where she served as president of the local high school’s Parent Teacher Student Organization for 3 years, voraciously reads non-fiction, and works to perfect her gluten free challah recipe.  Reach out via email.
