High Holiday Food Drive

Once again, we will be holding our High Holiday Food Drive, beginning at Erev Rosh Hashanah services and ending after Yom Kippur. We will distribute shopping bags with lists of suggested foods for your shopping convenience, and we hope that each of our members will take one or more bags to fill with shelf-stable, healthy food products to help keep the shelves in the WIN Food Pantry well-stocked. Donations will be collected in the Chapman Atrium at the temple.

Last year we had a phenomenal response to our food drive- we collected 137 bags, 7 boxes of food and over $500. in monetary donations. We hope to do as well or even better this year! The Pantry is currently serving 188 families, including 120 seniors and 74 school-age children , all of whom are our neighbors. I look forward to your continued support for this important and necessary project. It’s a wonderful way for us to begin the year 5785 knowing that we have enabled those in our community who are less fortunate than we are to be able to properly feed their families.

If food shopping is not something you are able to do, monetary donations are always gratefully accepted. Checks should be made payable to WIN Food Pantry and can be mailed or dropped at the temple to my attention. You can also donate through the Pantry website at www.winfoodpantry.org. Please indicate on your donation that you are a member of Temple Beth Tikvah.

I look forward to seeing the collection tables in the Chapman Atrium once again fill with our Pantry donations. I am always very proud to be a TBT member when we deliver all our bags of food to the Pantry at the conclusion of our drive. And, speaking of delivering the food – we need able bodied volunteers to help us with those deliveries when the drive ends.
