Temple Beth Tikvah High Holiday Food Drive

As we approach the High Holidays, we once more prepare to participate in the High Holiday Food Drive, during which we ask our congregants to bring food donations to the temple to be delivered to the WIN Food Pantry. Once again, our local Shop Rite has donated 200 reusable bags for us to fill with food for our neighbors in need. Those bags will be available at the temple before and during the High Holy Days, and we ask each of you to take a bag and return it to the temple with your much needed gifts of food – there will be a shopping list attached to each bag to help you choose items that are most needed by the Pantry. There will be tables set up in the Chapman Atrium from Rosh Hashanah until Yom Kippur on which you can place your donations during the ten day holiday period. You can pick up the bags at services, or during regular temple office hours.

The need for our support continues to grow – the Pantry is now serving 170 families – so our generosity must also continue to grow. The congregants of Temple Beth Tikvah have always responded very positively to this annual appeal, and we would expect the same this year. If food shopping is not something you are comfortable doing, monetary contributions are gratefully accepted. Checks can be made payable to Wayne Interfaith Network and mailed to or dropped at the temple to my attention. Or you can donate directly on the website www.winfoodpantry.org. Please note on your donation that you are a member of Temple Beth Tikvah.

I can think of no better way to begin our new year than by helping our neighbors in need enjoy many of the things we take for granted.
